If House music is a feeling then Iain MacPherson encapsulates it as if he was a regular at Chicago's Music Box circa 1987. With releases out on 20/20 Vision, Playhouse, Chez, Brique Rouge, Flat & Round, and his own record label Flygaric Tracks, 3 U.S. Tours under his belt and regular gigs across the UK, it is somewhat surprising that Iain was actually born on the banks of Loch Ness, where he regularly spotted Nessie from his home in the Scottish highland capital of Inverness. But starting out in this far-flung location hasn't prevented him from gaining a world-wide reputation as one of House music's most talented DJ's and Producers.
1995 saw him move to the larger Scottish city of Aberdeen, where he wasted no time securing some regular gigs. These included residencies at Joy where Iain played alongside Southport Weekender regular Billy Davidson and Bellisima, where he opened for Westbound main-man Doc Martin (Los Angeles) and Hacienda resident Tom Wainwright. It was a relocation to the Midlands of England and a hefty loan to buy some more production kit that really kick-started Iain's musical career. Along with DJ residencies at Nail That Noise, Bar Helsinki, and Po Na Na, he formed the Funky Transport collective with some like-minded musical reprobates. Originally an 8-piece live house set-up, they caught the eye, and more importantly the ear of Ralph Lawson, owner of the highly respected 20:20 Vision label. Ralph had broken down on his way home from a gig in Bristol and he happened to have the recently dispatched Funky Transport demo C90 as his only listening material !! they were swiftly signed up and their debut EP, Disjointed, was very well received, and further EPs followed including a remix of Down With Love from Parisian wonderkid D'Julz. Once the secret of Iain's talent was out the offers of DJ and production work flooded in. Gigs at London's Deep Fried Fridays, Hot Water Music in Manchester (alongside Bugged Out's Rob Bright & James Holroyd), and Aberdeen's Kia-aura, accompanied EPs on Belgium's Wally's Groove World and remixes of Q-Burns and David Duriez. 2002 saw two successful tours of America including gigs in Tijuana, Mexico alongside the legendary Dano & JZ (Red Melon), as well as dates in San Diego, Los Angeles, Oakland and Miami. Furthermore Iain began his own night in July 02. Called Arrriba!, and taking place at Aberdeen's Po Na Na, it quickly gained a reputation as the North East of Scotland's best underground house party, with DJs such as Brett Johnson (Classic, Aesoteric), Halo (H-Foundation), Justin Long (Smart Bar), Q- Burns (Astralwerks, NRK), DJ Duane (Alluv), John Larner (aka Cyberjive - Muzique Boutique), DJ Jonene (Panhandle, Safe in Sound) and Steve Conry (Flygaric Tracks) joining Iain for some incredible nights. 2003 saw the first releases on the Flygaric Tracks label Iain has started in partnership with Doubledown Recordings. Both FLY001 and FLY 002 have "flown" off the shelves all over the globe. and have been heard in all the best clubs, getting plays from dj's Mark Farina, Iz, Dj Harri, David Duriez, Q-burns, Dj Jonene, Dj Dizzy, Justin Long .. you get the picture, I'm sure!
