| Deep
House Souldiers was originally a project that was formed by Matthew Bandy
and Joel Jackson in December of 2000. The twos parallel beliefs and
ideas on self-statement, art, the soul, and the influence that music has
over all of us are the concepts that created the basic foundation of DHS.
Their style cannot be categorized into one area, however one can always
expect, percussive rhythms, live instruments, and driving bass lines.
Matthew and Joel met during the summer of 2000, while performing together; the two collaborated a couple months later and have been working together since then. The diverse talents that both Matthew and Joel bring to their music create a perfect balance in their compositions. Both are capable of working off the creativity that the other generates, only to expand the conception of their sound. As a live act, their performance is unique and enables them to work the crowd much like a DJ with a box of records. No set is ever planned and when able the two incorporate live musicians and vocalists. The meaning behind Deep House Souldiers are concepts which describes Matthew and Joels musical objectives DEEP illustrates music with depth, giving the listener visual space between each sound within the composition. HOUSE embodies the foundation that they work from, whether deep, funky, or tribal one can always expect the element of soul and a danceable groove found in house. Souldiers represents their message and cause, the ability to have an idea while implementing it, never backing down regardless of the path, we all, may be on. In addition
to their own material the two have produced live bands, hip-hop, reggae,
solo musicians, and vocalists. As they continue to push their sound, they
maintain a well-rounded approach with an open mind to all music. When
it comes down to it, Deep House Souldiers simply want to make music to
share with the world while experience what the world has to share with
them.
